For me the summer officially starts when I start attending all the free concerts that the city has to offer.  What?!! You don’t like free stuff????? Anyway, yesterday I went to one of the BEST concerts in Central Park.  Yep, Central Park Summerstage.  Yesterday’s concert featured some of the wickedest reggae performers, acts, legends.  In the house was Alpha Blondy & The Solar System, Lee “Scratch” Perry & Dubblestandart and Subatomic Sound System.  Not familiar with these names?  Well you have to be a TRUE reggae lover to know these people.  But honestly even if you are not ‘in the know’ you would have enjoyed this concert to the fullest.  From the moment Subatomic Sound System hit the stage they had us rocking to the beats and sounds preparing us for Lee “Scratch” Perry’s dubs and classic music and then BOOM…Alpha Blondy hit the stage and the crowd went crazy!!!!!!!! Man, I can’t even really describe how good, no GREAT this concert was.  Not to mention I was surrounded by family, friends, fellow reggae lovers, AND it was a BEAUTIFUL day …what more could I ask for??!!  Here are some more pics from the concert…can you tell we had a good time?

Many of you may or may not know this but I was born in Kingstown General Hospital in St. Vincent, West Indies.  I could give you all the facts about St. Vincent but out of fear that I may forget something I will let you do the research on your own ;-)

As a starting point check out www.svgtourism.com.  NO, not now!!! After you read my blog..geeeshh.. Okay so the reason why I am telling you all of this is to get to the MAJOR point, which is that I just returned from vacationing in St. Vincent.  I had a GREAT time.  It was our Carnival season (which you will read about when you do your research) and I participated in EVERYTHING!  Yep!  I did it all.  I went to all the shows, played in a J’Ouvert band, played mas, and went on a boat cruise, just to name a few.  So now let’s get to the fun part…….Here are a few pics of me in my costume…..and save the jokes!!!!svgmas

“Let’s face it, every city girl needs a fabulous tote (in fact…several). That’s because most of us need to carry more than the elements that will fit into a cute handbag. So we’re always on the lookout for something that is both simple and chic (read: goes with everything). I have fallen in love with Anavaa Kisasa’s Shopper ($75. Designer and owner of the eponymous boutique of the same name, Zulema George, has given the  charcoal stone-washed style some flair with crocodile embossed leather detailing. Plus there is plenty of room to fit your heels (or flats) and the book you want to find the time to read (among your other essentials).”
